FAQ
Is there any limit on the number of files that can be backed up?
Disk storage space is limited to the quota offered by the selected plan but there are no limits on number of files or databases.
How do backups work?
After an initial full backup, further backups are made using an incremental backup process which only stores new and changed files. This significantly optimises the amount of storage needed to maintain multiple backup copies.
How does backup restoration work?
Users have the option to perform a manual restore by downloading a zip file of their backup, or utilise CodeGuard's one-click automatic restore. With an automatic restore, users can choose either a single file or an entire website. In either case, CodeGuard will examine a website and only replace files which have changed optimising the restore time.
Where are backups stored?
Backups are stored on Amazon Web Services Simple Storage System, known as S3. S3 boasts object durability levels of 99.999999999%, achieved by storing redundant copies of data across multiple geographies and facilities.
Are backups encrypted?
Yes. Backups are stored with Server Side Encryption using one of the strongest block ciphers available, AES-256.
Are database backups supported?
Yes, MySQL and MSSQL database backups are supported using either direct MySQL connections or by tunneling over SSH.
